Abstract:

This feasibility study consisted of a literature survey and visits to activities using liquid crystals. It was found that the use of liquid crystals as a nondestructive inspection tool is not only feasible, but a reality for the inspection of certain aircraft structures and assemblies. However, specific applications require study and experimentation prior to use. Author
