Abstract:

A set of equations representing the motion of a missile being boosted to velocity and having vanes in the rocket jet actuated by fins in the wind stream for the purpose of reducing dispersion due to thrust malalignment andor aerodynamic instability of the missile configuration has been studied with the aid of the University of Pennsylvania differential analyser. The results obtained indicate that the method should be successful to the extent of making possible the launching of a missile into a radar beam with relatively small deviations from the beam axis.
