An ischial weight-bearing brace was evaluated relative to stress and strain distributions under static conditions. Strain gages were bonded to the brace uprights in areas where it was assumed stresses would be highest and strain measurements made upon applying a load of 250 pounds in increments of 25 pounds. At the same time lateral deflection of each upright was observed. It was found that stress conditions to the extent of this evaluation were well within the allowable limits of the material used for fabrication of the brace. Author
