A method is developed for the characterization of active solid-state devices when used at high frequencies. This requires establishment of a technique for obtaining realizable networks which provide accurate representations of the devices over a broad frequency spectrum. The process can be helpful in the design of circuits using vacuum tubes as well as various solid-state electron devices such as transistors, especially in the UHF region where parasitics play an important role. The procedure entails many measurements but provides information which may not be available by other methods. Author
