An analysis is made of current photomapping photogrammetric equipment and techniques and their adaptability to utilize vertical data vertical photography obtained by using a stabilized camera mount, or recorded deviations of the camera axis from the vertical. The availability of such data permits modification of map compilation techniques and recommendation of more simple, efficient, or accurate procedures. The analysis considers various cases such as vertical photography stabilized to within 30 in., near vertical photography with roll and pitch recorded to within 30 in., and vertical photography stabilized to within 3 feet. This study shows that an essential gain in efficiency of photogrammetric mapping is to be expected if such verticality data are available. Author
