Abstract:

The theory of fluid jets founded by Helmholtz can be applied to the computation of the technically important exit-flow coefficients. A complete analysis leads to numerical results which well agree with the findings of experiments. The most useful results concern the topics as follows Symmetrical orifice in a horizontal plane lateral orifice in an infinite wall oriented at right angles to the exit flow the effects of assymmetry simultaneous exit from a bottom and lateral opening perfect, straight overflow.
