Abstract:
This report contains a review of experimental and theoretical investigations of the band structure of the lead salts a report of new measurements of the shift of the optical absorption edge in PbS, PbSe, and PbTe with hydrostatic pressure, and of the edge in PbS with temperature a study of the shape of the absorption edge and its variation with temperature and pressure, particularly in PbS and a study of the shape of the refractive index curve nhv near the absorption edge in PbS, and the shift of nhv with pressure and temperature.
