Pagination or Media Count:
The report describes an experimental time-shared system called DISPLAYTRAN. The DISPLAYTRAN system allows programmers to construct and debug FORTRAN IV programs in an on-line conversational manner. It provides immediate response to syntax errors and contains a host of source language debug aids to assist programmers in finding errors in program logic or semantics. Analysts will be able to communicate with application programs prepared using the system during their execution. Input to and output from application programs can be in a graphical andor tabular form. DISPLAYTRAN is operational on an IBM 36040 computer. This time-shared system drives one remote terminal and concurrently executes one background program. The remote terminal consists of an IBM 2250 display, a slow speed printer, and a function keyboard. A two terminal system is expected to be available during the fall of 1967. This manual provides the information necessary to use the DISPLAYTRAN system. It contains a description of the command language usersystem communication language, the FORTRAN IV language, and the hardware configuration of the system. Author
