Abstract:
Since the presence or absence of visual fungus growth is not a reliable means for predicting whether the cable insulation has undergone a change in electrical properties, a study was made of such effects by making measurements of insulation resistance before and after soil burial exposures. The vinyl cables showed a decrease in insulation resistance at the end of a 30 month exposure period, which is regarded as insignificant.
