Abstract:
Consistent with present day military logistic concepts for miniaturization of electrical and electronic components, there has been an increasing need to reduce size, weight and cost of ground support multiconductor cable of the type covered in Military Specification MIL-C-13777. There has also been a need to evaluate the requirements of this specification in light of the numerous deviations being specified by various users of this cable, with a view towards standardization of the most appropriate materials, construction details and performance requirements that should be used in Military Systems. The purpose of this article is to discuss what is being done to meet these needs, and to review recent data which will be used to establish more uniform and realistic specification requirements.
