The primary objective of the research conducted under this grant has been the study of the plastic deformation of crystalline materials which are held under hydrostatic confining pressure, the experimental work being carried out in such a way that the observed pressure effects could be interpreted in terms of the behavior of the structural imperfections - dislocations and point defects -- which control crystal plasticity.
