A general method of optimal structural design for given stiffness in stationary creep is illustrated by the special case of a disk of variable thickness that carries given loads along part of its edge and is rigidly supported along the remainder. For a given creep stiffness, that is for a given value of the power of the loads on the velocities of stationary creep, the disk is to use the smallest possible amount of a specified material with known creep properties.
