Abstract:

Thermochemical research was carried out on ethylenimine, four aliphatic diamines, and two organic fluorine compounds. Results for ethylenimine include an experimental determination of its thermodynamic properties by means of low-temperature calorimetry, combustion calorimetry, and vapor pressure measurements. The measured third-law entropy is discussed in light of a recent Russian value calculated from spectroscopic information. Work on the thermochemistry of aliphatic diamines includes purification of samples of 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,2-diaminopropane, 1,2-diaminobutane, and 1,2-diamino-2-methylpropane heats of combustion of 1,2-diaminopropane and 1,2-diamino-2-methylpropane and some low-temperature thermal measurements on 1,2-diaminopropane. P-V-T relations determined for hexafluoroethane include vapor pressures up to the critical state, critical constants, Pc, Tc, and Vc, and compressibility of the gas up to 350C and 400 atmospheres.
