Abstract:
Equipment to measure energy exchange in low pressure environments was evaluated. A volume-summing apparatus with a proportional gas sampler, the Muller-Franz gas meter, proved to be reliable at barometric pressures of 447 and 259 torr equivalent to 14,000 and 27,000 feet for the measurement of minute volume of ventilation, oxygen uptake, and CO2 production.
