Abstract:
A detailed summary is given of the research procedure employed during the first phase of Project COMONOT. COMONOT comparative monotony is an experimental assessment of various conditions of boredom and monotony, at one extreme requiring a 7-day stay in a totally dark, sound-proof cubicle. Attention in this paper is focused on 1 the rationale of the study 2 definition of the three experimental conditions 3 a description of the subject population 4 details of the test program and 5 how factors affecting experimental set were dealt with. Also included are the actual briefing scripts and test schedules followed. The paper is intended to provide the sorts of additional procedural details that, due to space limitations, usually must be omitted from journal articles. Author
