Abstract:
Three shelter habitability tests examined the effectiveness of instructions and job aides designed to support the use of 1 a Package Ventilation Kit, 2 Effective Temperature Meters, 3 a toxic gas detector, 4 the OCD water dispenser, 5 and other shelter equipment by untrained subjects and the effect of these equipments on the shelter organization and management. Other factors related to shelter occupancy are also discussed, such as role conflict and defections. Recommendations are given for improvement in the instructions, devices, and shelter management.
