Abstract:
Frequency rate, signal-to-noise ratio, and amplitude fluctuations--these three parameters of the reference input to a type 1, difference-frequency, AFC frequency tracking loop--cause some difficulty in choosing the tracking loop filter bandwidth. A study was made of the frequency tracking ability of a particular AFC system for various filter bandwidths. The doppler frequency of the CW radar echo from a four-motored propeller-driven aircraft is the ultimate reference input the system is required to follow. Author
