Abstract:

A report is made of design studies of a gas-bearing gyro with a pneumatic pick-off which senses the direction between the missile axis and the spin-axis of the gyro wheel and actuates an all-fluid control to maintain the course of the missile. The work effort was in three functional areas of the proposed gyro. a High G spherical gas bearing, b Quick response, high gain-factor pneumatic pick-off, c Self-aligning, high acceleration turbine drive.
