Abstract:
The objective of the research was the attack on two important photochemical problems through the use of radioactive tracer techniques. These problems are 1 the reaction of methylene with olefins, utilizing CHT from the photolysis of CHT CO and 2 the reactions of energetic hydrogen atoms 2.8 e.v. with alkanes, using T atoms from the photolysis of TBr. Trace levels in bulk components was utilized. In addition, isotopic differences in the reactions themselves have been evaluated. The most important results of the research have depended heavily on the development of techniques for gas chromatographic separation of isotopic isomers of olefind and alkanes. Author
