The report describes the experimental investigations of exploding wire phenomena in various atmospheres and pressures, the determination of energy dissipated in an exploding wire and in the associated airgap switch by means of simultaneous voltage and current measurements, and the development of a 3-color optical pyrometer with resolving time of the order of 0.1 microseconds. Brief descriptions of a number of investigations undertaken in these areas are presented, and in each case reference is made to appropriate publications from which detailed information may be obtained.
