In the development of an ultra-high speed streak camera it became necessary to produce small ferromagnetic prisms, whose faces were optically flat mirrors. This report describes the grinding and polishing techniques used to prepare optically flat surfaces on steel prisms and the problems encountered in this work. Standard optical shop equipment was used the techniques employed were similar to those used in preparing glass mirrors. Author
