The parameters of analytic orbitals are evaluated for the configurations 1s2 2s2p5 and 1s2 2p6 of the atomic species O, F, Ne, Na3, and Mg4. The energy correction is found for the application of the two-configuration approximation 1s2 2s2 2p4 - 1s2 2p6. The theoretical results are compared with experimental data wherever possible. Values are determined for the total dipole strength and other transition-theory quantities, viz., the transition probability and oscillator strength, with single-configuration and two-configuration approximations.
