Abstract:

This paper describes the physical and mathematical concepts necessary to compute power spectral density PSD. The computation of PSD is one of several ways to analyze complex or random time functions. The object is to determine the frequency content of such functions and then to apply standard frequency analysis techniques to determine the effects on a given physical system. PSD can, for at least some problems, bridge the gap between statistical phenomena and standard analysis methods.
