Abstract:
Aerosol packaged paint products have gained widespread acceptance in recent years. Because of safety and toxicity factors, the type of propellant employed is of vital importance. The report describes a rapid, specific procedure for the identification of propellants using gas-liquid chromatography. A chilled can of paint is sprayed into a test tube and the atmosphere above the liquid is sampled. The analysis is conducted on silicone grease and porous polymer columns. Author
