Abstract:
Quasi-synoptic measurements of the radiation temperature of the sea were conducted over the northern Gulf of Mexico on a near monthly basis during the period November 1963 to June 1965. These data indicate the seasonal and spatial variations of surface temperature, Mississippi River discharge patterns, the effect of the passage of a severe hurricane on the sea surface temperature field, and the major surface features of the circulation in the northern Gulf.
