Abstract:
The direct modeling of a physical process involves the use of empirically defined logical building blocks and their interconnections to mimic the complete observed or postulated behavior of a process. The approach has a number of advantages dealing with the enhancement of intuitive interaction, the bypassing of certain mathematical difficulties, and the minimizing of interruptions. The growing needs for such a tool are reflected in current writings and are discussed in the report. A specific building block is suggested and examples of its application to different problem areas are given. A general discussion deals with questions of economy, mathematics, and physical realization. Author
