Abstract:

The paper contains the applications of the hydrogen, oxygen and sulphur isotopes to oceanographic research. The isotopic variations of these elements are due chiefly to inorganic andor organic fractionations. Elements such as lead and strontium are also the products of radioactive decay, therefore, their isotopic composition will be a function of the decay scheme as well as that of their parental abundances. Leads in the sediments of isolated or semi-closed basins have been investigated. Regions selected for this study are the Baltic Sea, the Hudson Bay and three Canadian Shield lakes. Author
