Relaxation times of concentration fluctuations in a binary mixture were investigated by scattered light measurements of the electric field effect on critical opalescence. Experimental relaxation times were measured for the system nitrobenzene-isooctane for scattering angles from 30 to 135 deg. and for temperature distances above the critical temperature from 0.60C to 0.01C. Over the range of angles and temperatures employed the results follow the Fixman modification of the Debye theory of relaxation times. The temperature dependence is non-classical with a value of the Fisher gamma approximately 1.2. Author
