The final design of the high voltage oscillator fulfilling the electrical and mechanical requirements is basically a Colpitts type oscillator, constructed in two stages, known as a Darlington configuration. This configuration was chosen to provide ability to start at low temperature -54C and adjustment of output voltage without the sacrifice of regulation. Short circuit protection is provided as verified by a short circuit test lasting 24 hours at 52C. The core is a controlled gap type providing constant permeability over the specified temperature range which, in turn, provides constant frequency output over the range of input voltage. Temperature compensation was accomplished by placing a silicon diode in series with the emitter of the transistor. Manufacturing information is presented.
