An investigation was made of the accuracy with which the position of a receiver can be determined by use of a high-altitude satellite navigation system. The navigation system is modelled as a problem of nonlinear estimation in the presence of random disturbances. Equations are derived for describing positioning errors by using linearization and the Kalman-Bucy filtering equations.
