The radar target characteristics of the AJ-1 aircraft are described quantitatively for radar frequencies of 115, 215, 1250 and 2813 Mc. The radar area of the aircraft at 115 Mc is five times greater over the nose region, eleven times greater over the tail region and five times less over the broadside region than at 2813 Mc. The aircraft is symmetrical with respect to radar area. Although they have a common median, the probability-distributions of single-pulse amplitudes are different in character than the probability-distributions of presentation-time medians taken over identical time intervals. When azimuth intervals were repeated, the variation in probability of a given radar area was much higher for the presentation-time distributions than for the single-pulse distributions. The higher variation is a result of the presentation times being commensurate with propeller modulation periods. Author
