Abstract:

In line with the contract objective of coating studies in the far infrared, the work was concerned with transmission filters for the 20 micron to 50 micron region. In particular, three types of transmission filters employing LiF films are discussed. Bandpass and low frequency pass filters were designed for the long wavelength side of the LiF rst. band. Within the rst. band, where the ratio kn is high, induced transmission filters were designed, using LiF rst. layers to simulate metal films. Computed transmittance curves for these three types are given. It develops that LiF is not a particularly good material to use in the design of these transmission filters.
