Abstract:

During a study of the lethal effect of staphylococcal alpha-toxin on mice it was detected that the females are more sensitive to it than the males. Based on susceptibility and sensitivity to staphylococcal alpha-toxin, mice of various inbred strains are situated in the following order descending C3H and C57BL, noninbred and C57L, BAL Bc. The sensitivity of mice to toxin is higher than to staphylococcus culture, and the variability of their response to the administration of toxin turned out to be lower than to infection with culture.
