Abstract:

This compilation of abstracts is based on Soviet open sources published 1964-1966 with a few sources published as far back as 1960. The report deals with optical effects in the atmosphere, the distribution of various admixtures and impurities in the atmosphere, and the optical properties reflectivity, absorption, and transmission of ground cover. The report is divided into four sections I. General 9 entries II. Interaction of light with the atmosphere 32 entries III. Atmospheric distribution of water particles, aerosols, and impurities 42 entries IV. Surface and ground cover reflectivity, absorption, and transmission 17 entries. An Author Index appears at the end of the report. There is no bibliography. Abstracts include the following information research in the physics of roughly dispersed aerosols spectral transparency of the atmosphere automatic spectroscopic device for investigation of the transmission of solar IR radiation through the atmosphere limit cases of the distribution of paths of photons emerging from a thick scattering layer importance of the polarimetric method of investigating the turbidity of the earths atmosphere in comparison with the actinometric and diaphanoscopic methods daily cycles of dustiness of the lower layers of the atmosphere Junges size distribution of particles and some properties of the atmospheric scattering indicatrix measurement of the true absorption index of light in the sea.
