A study was made to determine the efficiency and suitability for Navy use of the Stanshaw Induction Cooking Unit in comparison with the standard Navy hot plate, Stock No. 65-H-750, and to determine the practicability of using the unit aboard submarines. The present design of the Shaw Induction Cooking Unit was found unsatisfactory for Navy use. Under conditions of the test, the following defects were noted danger of internal fires, excessive cooking times, scorching of food, possible excessive noise, poor utensil shapes, and cleaning difficulties.
