Pagination or Media Count:
Coarse feed sawing of red oak was examined for its influence on saw performance, lumber yields, and pulping characteristics of the sawdust produced. Bite-per-tooth feed rates of 18, 316, and 14 inch were used and saw performance was determined for each rate in terms of thickness variation, board surface roughness, and board edge tear-out. The brief evaluation of these points was based on maximum and minimum thickness measurements and planing to remove sawing marks. Author
