Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is carried out of the mode-selection properties of a Many Element Laser consisting of N like elements of active material separated by lossless unlike air-gaps. The gaps are assumed to be sufficiently narrow to present frequency-independent transmission and reflection coefficients. A comparison with an unsegmented resonator, with equal total length of active material and equal end-face reflectivities is performed, by using the generalized Tang Statz and de Mars theory. Experiments of mode selection in a MEL with N 5, 7 and 10 like elements are reported. Author
