Abstract:
An investigation was made to study the effects of the defect state and structure of ionic compounds upon their mechanical properties. The properties studied included creep, internal friction, surface energy, yielding and flow, optical properties, and resistivity. The principle materials used were rutile TiO2, magnesium oxide MgO, Lithium Fluoride LiF, and a eutectic LiF-NaF. Author
