Abstract:
The detection of natural antibodies, immune antibodies and hemolysins has been studied by various methods. The first aspect considered was that of sensitive technics to insure detection of each category of antibody. Mass screening presented a problem requiring change from purely manual to semiautomation and full automation. The paper describes a technic for rapid screening of natural antibodies by semiautomation. Full automation is described with results accomplished from mass screening for hemolysins and immune antibodies in group O individuals. These procedures were then evaluated, in use, involving accurate and sensitive mass identification of blood groups, Rh factor, and back typing of newly inducted soldiers in an effort to increase speed and efficiency of the initial processing, yet provide reliable donor pool statistics.
