Abstract:
A meeting was convened by the Smithsonian Institution in cooperation with the American Institute of Biological Sciences and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in order to explore the possibilities for utilizing the forthcoming NIMBUS B IRLS Interrogation, Recording and Locating System experiment in gaining data on the movement and behavior of wild animals which are difficult, if not impossible, to study by other means. While a detailed taped-transcript of the conference was taken, the material in this report is essentially post-conference or second-thought material prepared by those few of the participants who saw the immediate likelihood of designing experiments which could perhaps take advantage of the NIMBUS B shots planned in 1967-68.
