Abstract:
Aligned-fields steady flows of perfect gaseous conductors about slender bodies are formulated simultaneously for both transonic and hypercritical conditions of the free stream. The same set of equations and shock relations in similarity variables and suitably-labeled coordinates describe the flow in the physical plane, which can be transformed into one linear, mixed-type equation for the stream-function in the hodograph plane. The hyperbolic flow about a wedge fore-body is formulated in the hodograph plane, and two methods of solutions presented a superposition of particular solutions b finite difference. The numerical procedure is discussed and comparison between the two methods attempted. Author
