Abstract:
Preliminary studies of the directional characteristics of lunar thermal emission have been completed using existing infrared lunation data. Brightness temperatures were obtained at every 10C interval of a thermal latitude and longitude grid system where the subsolar point was defined as the thermal north pole, the antisolar point as the thermal south pole, and the thermal prime meridian as passing through the apparent disk center. The results are presented in the form of a family of plots of brightness temperature versus thermal coordinates. Comparisons with the Lambert diffuse surface law are made. Author
