Chemically analyzed standards of olivine, orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene were examined in the AN electron beam microanalyzer to obtain calibration information for the conversion of x-ray intensity to composition. This calibration information was employed to determine the olivine and orthopyroxene low calcium compositions of thirty one unequilibrated ordinary chondrites. The chemistry of the olivine, orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene minerals in fourteen equilibrated chondrites of the H, L, and LL groups were determined, and the variation of chemistry within each group was found to be quite small.
