Abstract:
Numerous problems encountered in the analysis, synthesis, and identification of systems become intractable when certain system attributes are represented by polynomials. In many instances, such unwieldy formulations may be circumvented by approximating these attributes by the more naturally suited exponential functions or by those rational functions whose denominator polynomials are not necessarily constant. This study considers two special sets of elements, one constituting a basis for exponential approximation and the other providing a basis for rational function approximation. Author
