Abstract:
An epoxide-polyoxypropylene diamine POPDA-400 cured coating system with improved flexibility, wet adhesion to aluminum substrate, resistance to low -40F and high 400F temperature aging, accelerated weathering and ultra-violet aging over the epoxide-polyamide system was developed for application to Naval aircraft. Polyoxypropylene diamine of molecular weight 490 to 550 POPDA-400 showed the most promise as a curing agent for the epoxide resins, the cure rate conforming to Contract specifications. Synthesis of POPDA-400 and evaluation of the epoxide-POPDA-400 coating system are described. Author
