Abstract:

A description of METRIC, a mathematical model of a base-depot supply system translated into a computer program. METRIC is capable of determining base and depot stock levels for a group of recoverable items of the type that accounts for 78 percent of the Air Forces investment in spares. Designed for application at the weapon-system level, METRICs primary aim is to optimize system performance for specified levels of system investment. This is probably the first multi-echelon, multi-item model ever proposed for Air Force implementation.
