Limitations on the availability of experimental materials, subjects, time, and equipment lead to the use of incomplete block designs. This paper discusses the construction of incomplete blocks for pmn systems where p is a prime, using finite field geometry as the construction method. A table of primitive irreducible polynomials for pn 1000 is given. Methods for factorial representation, computation of confounded effects, and generation of incomplete blocks are demonstrated and some of the interrelationships of Graeco-Latin, lattice, and partial factorial designs are demonstrated.
