Abstract:

The magnetic constants of an ideal superconducting torus, located in a uniform magnetic field perpendicular to its axis of symmetry, are calculated from a scalar potential expansion in toroidal Legendre functions. An algorithm for finding the expansion coefficients, suitable for digital computation, is included. Graphs and approximate formulas are given for the induced magnetic moment of the torus and the maximum field values with locations on its surface, as functions of its radius ratio. Author
