Abstract:

The report describes a system of programs, designed to be used on the MIT Compatible Time Sharing System CTSS, for solving the Orr-Sommerfeld parallel-flow stability problem of incompressible flow in contact with a rigid or flexible surface. The programs can be combined, building-block fashion, to treat a large variety of cases. As examples are shown 1 Blasius boundary layer over a flexible membrane, 2 turbulent boundary layer over a free water surface, and 3 free shear layer. Author
