Abstract:

The quasi-steady ocean circulation over the continental margin of the northeast Gulf of Mexico was surmised on the basis of three years of hydrographic and direct current observations. Observations were made by a wide range of techniques at two fixed platforms in the nearshore region off Panama City, Florida, and from small vessels during periodic surveys conducted over a larger area. Special attention was given to the accuracy of measurements and to the temporal and spatial distribution of sampling relative to scales of observed circulatory phenomena.
